Meet the Parents
How we met
as told by Margo
I worked with Jed’s mom at a small Chicago ad agency. She and I hit it off pretty well, and one day she mentioned that her son and his roommates were planning a party. I hadn’t really met a lot of people in Chicago, so I thought it’d be fun. When I arrived at the apartment, three confused-yet-sociable guys greeted me. They asked me, “Who here do you know?” I said, “I work with Jed’s mom.” Without hesitation, Jed stepped forward with a smile. He has a great smile; it’s the first thing I saw. At the party, I talked with a whole lot of people I didn’t know, about movies, Shakespeare, and plenty of other stuff I don’t remember. Every so often I’d see Jed and we’d talk. I remember thinking how nice he was. He didn’t even know me and he treated me like I was supposed to be there. We talked about movies a lot during the party, and by the end, we had a plan to see Evil Dead 2 the following weekend. And that’s where it all began…
